Fasteners are used to hold together a wide range of products, from toys to vehicles, to containers, etc. Several kind of surface finishes can be applied to fasteners and fixing systems with the aim to improve both the functional properties (corrosion protection, controlled friction, etc.) and the appearance.
Differing assembly needs, the development of new materials, the introduction of more and more strict environmental requirements and other aspects require a modification of the surface treatment processes.
The webinar has the scope to illustrate the recent progresses in the field of the metal finishing and surface treatment of fasteners and fixing.

Phosphating is one of the mostly diffused coatings for bolts. It perfectly controls the friction coefficient, allowing precise tightening. But the risk of hydrogen embrittlement generated by the coating process becomes dramatically high when the hardness goes up, in particular for property classes 12.9 and above.
Neverfriction(TM) aims to be an alternative to the phosphate coating, offering all its benefits without the risk of hydrogen embrittlement.
